Quit Smoking Now

The procedure I use for smoking cessation was developed by Randal Churchill at the Hypnotherapy Training Institute and has proven to be extremely effective. Churchill’s method combines behavior modification with hypnotherapy and requires 3 to 5 sessions. Some hypnotherapists may promise you cessation with a single session, but be forewarned! Quitting with a single session often leads to a substitute habit, like overeating, or to a relapse a few months down the line.

REMEMBER: it’s easy to quit in one session. The issue is quitting PERMANENTLY and WITHOUT RELAPSE or a shift to another self-destructive habit like overeating.

The basic 3-session program includes:

1st Session: I take your history of smoking and we explore ways to short-circuit any substitute habits that might replace smoking. We plan the behavior modification that will take place right before quitting: this involves changing some of the habits around smoking in order to make it a less automatic activity. I hypnotize you to prepare the subconscious to quit.

2nd Session: In this session I hypnotize you to quit smoking for good. Positive suggestions are given while you are in a deep hypnotic state. The recording you receive after the session will help you stay the course.

3rd Session: We reinforce the 2nd session with positive suggestions and trouble-shoot any resistance that may have come up. The third session insures that quitting is permanent.

All sessions are recorded so that you may reinforce the treatment on your own between appointments.

If your present life situation is very stressful or if you began smoking under stressful or traumatic circumstances, another one or two sessions may be needed.
